Volunteers are at the heart of BCS. Without our volunteers we would not be able to accomplish our goals. Volunteers help in many ways. For example…

  • client interviews
  • fundraising
  • client support services
  • event planning
  • office support

Honoring Our Volunteers
In 2003, we recruited and trained Tammy Fowler to volunteer for BCS. Tammy was a special education teacher who very quickly became an extremely engaged volunteer who worked with our clients, helped with fundraising, and did just about anything we needed her to do. Not long after she started working with us, Tammy passed away as the result of injuries from a car accident. In her honor, we established the Tammy Fowler Memorial Volunteer Spirit Award, an award given to the one or two volunteers who best exemplify Tammy’s volunteering style and enthusiasm.

We would like to recognize our “2009 Tammy” recipients -

Sue Maya for her exceptional service as a Client Service Volunteer (CSV) in the Inland Empire

Carol Bennett for her exceptional service as a Client Service Volunteer (CSV) in the Inland Empire

In 2009, we honored three additional volunteers who have contributed significant time and talent to BCS operations, fundraising and support. Those individuals are:

  • Sally Molnar, for her exceptional support of BCS participation in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Health Fund
  • Henry Chian, for his exceptional services in IT consultation and implementation
  • Jim Neely, for his exceptional support of BCS as manager of our vehicle donation program

A few of our many volunteers are profiled on this page. Please join us in thanking them for their services. You can also help by being a Sponsor. Click here to learn more.
